Doodles

Curly and thick coated Doodles are one of the most high maintenance and expensive dogs to upkeep. They require frequent grooming by a professional and regular combing at home in order to achieve the longer look that many doodle owners want. The longer styles are harder to maintain due to the mixing of two coat types that becomes tangled, impacted and matted very fast. On the surface the dog may look fine, but at the skin all the shedding coat becomes trapped by the non shedding fur. This results in a close shave to remove the painful matting that the doodles owners are not happy with even though that is the only humane option.  Regular professional grooming is also needed for the health of your dog. Neglect of the coat causing matting and pelting is painful and can cause several skin issues, such as hot spots. Matted ears can lead to hematomas. Severe matting can result in the loss of extremities.  Sadly several (not all) doodles also have severe temperament issues due to poor breeding and lack of proper introduction to grooming at a young age.  Doodles take longer to groom than most any other pet dogs due to their coats, and some due to their temperament which makes them extremely difficult to groom. Thus price will be reflected as such. Doodles and any dog I work on are charged by the hour at a national average rate for mobile grooming. This is to make the pricing fair for myself and also the other pet owners who pay the same average hourly rate. The average, well mannered large doodle takes approximately 2 hours, sometimes more if in poor coat condition.

I am currently unable to accept new doodles over 40 pounds due to the time needed. Some exceptions may be made if I start them as puppies or they are well mannered for grooming and on a schedule.  Doodles 40 pounds and under I can still accept on a schedule. This is to maintain the dogs health and the look the owner wishes.
